With Humble Hearts - Rev. Libby Smith

Our Unitarian emphasis on human potential can leave us at risk for arrogance, even as we seek to learn from the religions of the world that teach the importance of humility. Cultivating humble hearts can leave us better able to live out our potential in the ways that matter most. The Rev. Libby Smith grew up in the Unitarian Society of York (now UU Congregation of York) where her parents are still active members. She received her M.Div. from Harvard Divinity School in 1992 and has served congregations in Rockport, MA, and Warrington, PA, and is currently the consulting minister to the UU Fellowship of Lower Bucks, in Langhorne, PA.

Welcome to our church.

We're glad you found us. We are a liberal religious community in northwestern Philadelphia PA. Please explore our website for information on our congregation, our beliefs and activities. We welcome your questions and comments.

July 11th - A UU View of Redemption, Charles Gabriel

Traditional Christianity believes that Jesus' death and resurrection absolved and redeemed all mankind of original sin. Additionally, all sins are absolved if Jesus is accepted as personal savior. Unitarian Universalists do not accept this theology, but still may be able to find a meaningful redemption in the teachings and examples of Jesus. Charles Gabriel recently retired from a career as an engineer. He was raised in the Catholic church, but left in his teens. After wandering in the wilderness for many years, Charles joined USG in 2004.
